What’s On: Spring in SA
The weather is getting warmer and the days are getting longer, so it’s time to make the most of the time in the sun with these local springtime events.
From the Coonawarra to Ceduna and everywhere in between, there’s plenty to see and do in South Australia this spring. Here are a few of our favourites.
A Brush With Art
4 September – 10 October
Long-inspiring artists from all over, the Flinders Ranges celebrates its artistic flare with exhibitions scattered throughout the region.
Encouraging visitors to travel through the region and follow the arts trail as they go, festival organisers are excited about this year’s program. There’s an online map to help plan your creative journey, and even a range of workshops so you can try your hand at some of your own art.
Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations
1-31 October, Coonawarra
Sip your way through the Limestone Coast’s renowned wine region and sample some of the fruits of the locals’ labour at Coonawarra Cabernet Celebrations.
Wineries host a range of events, from music and masterclasses, to fine dining and luxe tastings, so you can pick and choose what you fancy and soak up the cracking Coonawarra how you desire.
Fleurieu Folk Festival
15-17 October, Willunga
Held since 2007, the Fleurieu Folk Festival is the state’s largest celebration of folk music.
Head along to see a line-up of some 50 musicians (both local and from afar) play, or make the most of a range of workshops, musical theatre and poetry sessions, and food and drink stalls.
Riverland Rose and Garden Festival
15-24 October, Riverland (various)
Wander through a collection of public and private gardens throughout the Riverland’s picturesque towns.
Friendly locals from Renmark, Loxton, Barmera, Waikerie and Berri open their gates to the public for this 10-day festival, so you can stop and smell the roses. There’s also a festival fair, lunch and dinner as part of the celebrations.
OzAsia Festival
21 October – 7 November
From the mesmerising new Moon Lantern Trail and the scrumptious Lucky Dumpling Market, to the most significant line-up of contemporary Asian Australian performance ever presented, there’s something for everyone at OzAsia Festival 2021.
The full program features a range of shows, many of which have discounts on ticket prices thanks to your RAA membership.
CheeseFest
23-24 October, Rymill Park
With more than 100 local food and drink stalls scattered throughout Rymill Park in Adelaide’s east for the weekend, CheeseFest is sure to satisfy all cheese lovers.
Taste your way from the gooiest to the smelliest cheeses, sip a local beer, sample an SA vino, and make sure to stop by the star-studded demo stage.
