Touch-a-Truck
When: 12 October, 9.30am–2.30pm Where: Civic Park, Modbury What you need to know: Fire trucks, street sweepers, bobcats, monster trucks – children will look even smaller when they get up close and personal with their favourite trucks at this school holiday event. Car and Motorcycle Show N Shine for Brain Cancer
When: 13 October, 9am–3pm Where: Keith Stephenson Park, Mount Barker What you need to know: A park packed with cars and bikes of all different models sounds like a motoring enthusiasts’ ideal hangout. Admire these metal beasts up close at the Car and Motorcycle Show N Shine for Brain Cancer, or enter your own pride and joy in one of many competitions to claim a trophy. When: 13 October, walk starts at 7pm Where: Rundle Park, Adelaide What you need to know: Halloween isn’t here just yet, but this spooky community event will definitely get you in the mood. Dress up as a ghoul and join hundreds of other creepy characters as they walk the streets of Adelaide to raise funds for charity. More details here.
Adelaide Fashion Festival
When: 17–21 October Where: Across SA What you need to know: Attend any one of the Adelaide Fashion Festival’s runway shows and you’d be forgiven for thinking you were in the Big Apple. International and local designers will take to the stage, and there’ll even be a chance to chat to top fashion identities over lunch – all while sampling SA’s delicious produce and beverages. Variety SA Motorcycle Run
When: 18–21 October Where: Edwardstown to Tailem Bend What you need to know: If you have a motorcycle or classic car, get it out of the garage and spend 4 days cruising some of the state’s scenic routes (like the one pictured at the top) for children in need. The itinerary includes a ferry to Kangaroo Island before riding to various landmarks on the island.
