Slap on a hat, slop on some sunscreen and set the tone for a great year ahead. With summer in full swing, make sure these sun-soaked SA events are in your calendar.
1. PolArt
When: Until 5 January
Where: Various locations
Don’t walk, waltz through culture at the largest and longest-running Polish cultural festival outside of Poland. The PolArt 2025 program features more than 500 artists and performers celebrating the sounds, flavours, colours and stories of Poland.
There’s folk dance and songs that’ll sweep you off your feet, visual artworks weaving stories of Polish heritage and Australian life, thrilling theatre presented in Polish and more. Whether you’re experiencing Polish culture for the first time or reconnecting with your heritage, this is your chance to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and spirit of Poland.
2. Cirque Alice
When: 8–18 January
Where: Her Majesty’s Theatre
Curiouser and curiouser! Follow Alice down the rabbit hole into a gravity-defying and mind-bending wonderland of circus feats, music and energy. This is your chance to peek through the looking glass and experience Lewis Carroll’s classic adventure reimagined in Cirque Alice.
With Australian Idol contestant Layla Schillert in the leading role and starring some of the greatest acrobatic performers from across the globe, this is a show that’ll keep you grinning like the Cheshire Cat. 3. Gather in the Garden
When: 9–24 January
Where: Adelaide Botanic Garden
Ready to ‘leaf’ your ordinary summer weekends behind? Adelaide Botanic Garden is letting the good times grow with Gather in the Garden, each Friday and Saturday night throughout January. Bring a picnic dinner or let the food trucks do the cooking for you. Kick back with live tunes on the lawns and experience the botanic gardens after dark.
You can also admire photographic and watercolour masterpieces in full bloom, as the respective Wildlife Photographer of the Year and Tails from the Coasts exhibitions are included in your ticket. 4. Santos Tour Down Under
When: 16–25 January
Where: Various locations
The stages are set, spanning a breathtaking distance of more than 1150km. Cheer elite riders from around the globe as they climb and sprint through SA’s stunning regions for the 2026 Santos Tour Down Under.
This year’s event includes new starting locations and the longest women’s Tour Down Under ever. Is watching all this exercise making you feel a bit puffed? While the pros battle it out on the road, head to the free Tour Village in Victoria Square/Tartanyangga for knock-off drinks, ample shade and family-friendly activities.

5. Cellar Door Fest
When: 30 January – 1 February
Where: Adelaide Convention Centre
Who’s ready to uncork some summer fun? ‘Wine’ down after a big week with glorious food, fancy refreshments and live music as Cellar Door Fest celebrates its 15th anniversary. SA’s best producers are ready and waiting to get you sipping, swirling and savouring your way through the weekend.
Think freshly made paella and loaded grilled-cheese sandwiches, abundant wine from all over the state, craft spirits and artisan treats all under one roof in the heart of the city. If you’re in the mood for a little education, learn a thing or two during an expert-led flavour-pairing masterclass. For an even sweeter weekend, RAA members can grab a code from RAA Rewards and save 20 per cent on general admission tickets.

Bonus event: Woven within Stars
When: Until 1 March
Where: Fabrik Arts + Heritage, Lobethal
Seeing the magnificent cluster of stars and galaxies that form the Milky Way and the waxing and waning moon is a moving experience. For many First Nations people, the night sky holds the origin of many creation stories.
Woven within Stars, presented by Country Arts SA in partnership with Tarnanthi features new and existing works by nine First Nations artists, each piece reflecting on stories of culture, memory and Country.
This powerful exhibition showcasing contemporary painting, ceramics, sculpture, glass and woodwork has been curated by proud Wangkangurru woman Marika Davies and will be on display until March in the stunning Adelaide Hills.
