3 family-friendly zoo experiences

Who doesn’t like a day at the zoo with their family? Why not do something a bit different during your next visit and try one of these animal experiences.

1. Visit the Land of the Lemurs

Watch these Madagascan primates jump, swing and play in the trees as you walk through their habitat. Monarto Safari Park’s Land of the Lemurs experience gives visitors a unique view of these ring-tailed lemurs – an endangered species threatened with extinction.

Some of the playful lemurs are curious and will come within centimetres of visitors and mingle as they walk by. Before you leave the habitat, enter the slow lane at Monarto Safari Park’s tortoise research facility. Get up-close to both Aldabra Giant and Radiated Tortoises.

2. Hand-feed gigantic giraffes

Grab a carrot or two and hand-feed ginormous giraffes at Monarto Safari Park. You’ll get a behind-the-scenes look at the giraffes’ habitat as they amble over to you and lean down from a great height to eat the food straight from your hand. You’ll also learn all about giraffes and their plight in the wild.

3. Take the walk of the brave

Take your sense of adventure to the next level with Monarto Safari Park’s Lions 360 experience, the only 360 degree lion experience in Australia. Guaranteed to leave you in even more awe than when you entered, you’ll walk through a tunnel and emerge within clawing range of one of Australia’s largest lion prides. The minimum age for the Lion Feed is 10 years. However, children of all ages and adults alike can experience the Lions 360 Experience.
