RAA Road Service explained

One minute, you’re coasting along in your pride and joy without a care in the world; the next, you’re broken down on the side of the road, in desperate need of help.

Luckily, you’re an RAA member. You’ve downloaded the myRAA app or have a card lurking around somewhere, right? After consulting both your phone and your wallet, you finally find your card – it’s blue, whatever that means – and you call the Road Service number on the back.

Before too long, an RAA patrol arrives and, because you have Premium Road Service, your car can be towed for 50km, anywhere in metro Adelaide, free of charge.

A surprising relief. Your local mechanic isn’t far away, so you’re able to get your car there easily.

But on your way home in the taxi (also covered by Premium Road Service) you can’t help but wonder what else you might be entitled to, and what exactly the colour of your card signifies.

Thankfully RAA Road Service Product Manager Amanda Matthews can give you the lowdown on RAA road service levels.

Membership level

Let’s start with your membership level. This is determined by how long you’ve been an RAA member and is reflected by your card’s colour.

Blue members have been with RAA for up to four years, Bronze members for five to nine years, Silver members havebeen with RAA for 10 to 24 years, Gold members for 25 to 49 years and, finally, Gold50 members have been with RAA for 50-plus years.

If you have two or more RAA products (Road Service and Insurance for example), your membership level entitles you to several benefits.
