Navigate the Superloop Adelaide 500 road closures

Come the end of February, Adelaide’s city streets are taken over by the roars, growls and screeches of some of the fastest cars in the world.
With action-packed races, live music and a huge range of attractions, the Superloop Adelaide 500’s program never fails to impress. Off the track, however, multiple road closures and increased travel times can leave motorists confounded.
To avoid unexpected delays, it’s important to plan ahead.
Getting around
During the Superloop Adelaide 500, RAA recommends leaving home up to 30 minutes earlier.
RAA Senior Manager Road Safety Charles Mountain says motorists using major roads on the eastern side of the city will experience the greatest impact.
“Payneham Rd and Lower North East Rd are the slowest, taking commuters up to 30 minutes longer to travel than it otherwise would during the peak period, at an average speed of 13km/h,” Mr Mountain says.
“Magill Rd journeys take, on average, an extra 20 minutes longer than they would normally.
“Greenhill Rd and The Parade are also affected by the road closures, taking 15 minutes longer than normal.’’
To help ease traffic congestion, RAA is providing free and regular shuttle buses for Superloop fans from the Adelaide Railway Station to the event.
The buses depart Adelaide Railway Station, North Terrace, every 15 minutes (maximum wait 25 minutes), commencing at 9am every day of the event with the last service arriving in Victoria Square at 11pm Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday night.
