Can I be fined for driving too slow?

Driving slowly isn’t illegal, but obstructing traffic is and you can be fined $114 plus a $60 Victims of Crime Levy for that offence.   Travelling at an unusually slow speed – such as 20km/h in an 80km/h zone without a suitable reason – is an example where you might be blocking the path of road users, putting them and yourself in danger. However, speed limit signs don’t suggest that you must travel at the designated speed – you should drive to the conditions, such as if the weather’s bad and, of course, always drive with care and attention. If you’re travelling below the speed limit, be aware of traffic build-up behind you and, if possible, give other drivers opportunities to overtake you.
