What your coffee order says about you

Mmm, coffee. Who’d have thought the little brown beans from the steamy slopes and rich, volcanic soils of Africa, Asia and the Americas could bring such joy to the world?

Try to think of another aroma that makes you close your eyes, tilt your head back and be transported to the ancient, cobblestone paths and narrow streets of Italy.

Coffee has become a cornerstone of Australian social, working and home lives and a skilled barista can help you bounce into your day full of beans – you deserve a coffee just for reading that pun.

What’s your favourite way to drink coffee?

Back in the day, if you wanted a coffee, your choices were instant or percolated. Now, there are dozens of ways to enjoy that great coffee flavour.

Do you have ‘the usual’, or do you like to mix it up now and again? Have you ever wanted to try a macchiato or ristretto but didn’t quite dare to order one?

What about milk? Full cream, skim, lactose-free, oat, almond, soy or none at all?

We’d love to hear about your favourite. What coffee order puts a spring in your step?

What does your coffee order say about you?

We went to Cibo Hyde Park and asked the barista, Miranda, what a person’s coffee order says about them.

Mocha: You hate the taste of coffee, but love a caffeine hit with a shot of chocolate.

Cappuccino: You love a flat white or latte but crave a little sprinkle of choccy to get you through the day.

Latte: You’re a people pleaser and like to keep things simple with your coffee choice.

Flat white: You’re easy-going and don’t want things too fancy schmancy.

Short black: You know exactly what you want and get straight to the point.

Chai latte: You’re a little adventurous and like things a bit spicy.

As for the most complicated coffee order, Miranda says the prize goes to a long black with froth and chocolate on top, with extra hot water and hot milk on the side.
