Did you know, the Federal Government offers funding for aged care assistance and equipment to help support safety and independence?

The Federal Government’s My Aged Care helps senior Australians access services and equipment to support their independence and safety as their needs change.

Support looks different for everyone. It may include modifications to your home like handrails or ramps, a care worker helping with day-to-day tasks around the house, and subsidising assistive equipment such as walking frames, walkers and mobility scooters.

If cost is a barrier, you may be eligible to receive assistance via My Aged Care, with your contribution based on what you can afford.

How much you pay may depend on your financial situation and the number and types of services you receive. You can find out how to apply for subsidised aged care on the My Aged Care website.

Funding support for your mobility needs

RAA’s scooter expert and Manager of Inventory and Product Dylan Hoffman says RAA can make the process easy and stress-free.

“We can provide a free in-home mobility scooter demonstration if you live within the Adelaide metropolitan area and some regional areas, where you can test drive your chosen model with your OT present,” Dylan says.

“We also supply the necessary quotes and documentation so you can receive your scooter as quickly as possible.”

With so many shapes, sizes and styles of scooter available, it’s important to consider what best suits your lifestyle.

Think about whether you need a portable or foldable model, how far you’ll typically be travelling and whether your local terrain is hilly, rough or uneven.

“Our friendly staff can guide you from start to finish either in-store or from the comfort of your own home,” Dylan says.

RAA is not affiliated with NDIS or My Aged Care. To find out more and see if you are eligible, visit My Aged Care or the National Disability Insurance Agency, or contact the relevant government departments.
