SA’s least-favourite car park crowned
The Bunnings car park at Kent Town has been labelled the least-favourite parking spot by sa move readers.
Almost 700 people voted for the parking spot they disliked most, with the Festival car park in the city and Findon Shopping Centre rounding out the top three.
More than 134 car parks from across South Australia were nominated. However, the top 10 was made up of parking spaces in and around Adelaide.
Westfield Marion and Westfield Tea Tree Plaza both made the top 10, placing seventh and 10th respectively.
Blackwood was a hotspot for votes, with all four major supermarket car parks nominated. The Foodland Shopping Centre and Magnet Shopping Centre (Woolworths) at Blackwood ranked in the top 10.

Not only did Bunnings Kent Town receive the most nominations, but drivers were also outspoken about the quality of the car park. One motorist said:
“[The car park] is too small for the number of customers, and there’s a dead end you have to reverse out of if there aren’t any parks, because there isn’t enough room to turn around.
“Parking spaces are narrow which doesn’t suit the large utes and four-wheel-drive vehicles that drive there.”
Other drivers mentioned that only one entry and exit point was a problem as well as the gradient of the driveway and chaotic layout.
Survey respondents said The Festival Car Park, which ranked second on the list, was poorly designed.
A driver said:
“It’s a maze, signage is unclear and there are narrow turnoffs everywhere.”
Another respondent said:
“[The Festival Car Park] is poorly designed, full of dead ends, narrow parks, and it’s hard to get out after shows.”

RAA’s traffic engineers will investigate and follow up with the owners and operators of the these car parks about the issues raised.
