Living the cruise life perpetually
If you’ve dreamed about sailing into the sunset, here’s your chance.
The first perpetual world cruise has set sail and will spend the next 1301 days – three-and-a-half years – visiting 425 ports in 147 different countries.
What sets this voyage apart is that intrepid explorers can call the Villa Vie Odyssey home. Residency packages let passengers purchase a cabin on board, guaranteeing a villa for the next 15 years, meaning they can circumnavigate the globe three times.
If buying a cabin is too much of a commitment, they can also be rented on a pay-as-you-go basis which allows travellers to pick and choose the amount of time they spend on board and their destinations.
Travellers can continue working remotely while on board with global high-speed internet access. When eating chef-prepared three-course meals multiple times a day eventually gets old, there are cooking classes and fully equipped kitchens to make the journey feel more like home. Complimentary cleaners and laundry services keep the room in tip-top shape, and there’s access to healthcare services.
For travellers with decent sea legs, this is a new era of retirement, and in some cases it might be a more cost-effective option.
However, if the thought of living on a cruise ship for years gives you a bit of seasickness, regular cruising is still a very popular holiday choice for families, young and old alike.
