Bluey, Bingo and Brisbane

“Ladies and gentleman, I’m doing this for my kids!” is the quote from Bandit Heeler – Bluey’s dad – that come to mind when I first arrive at Bluey’s World in Brisbane.

But, as I enter this immersive experience, I start to think more along the lines of Bandit when he says, “You’re never too old to play”.

I enter Bluey’s World on Brisbane’s Northshore Pavillion with my Chilli (May), Bluey (Heidi) and Bingo (Matilda). We’re each handed our corresponding Heeler ears before entering the oversized door into a replica of the family’s home.

It doesn’t disappoint. A magical fairy and one of the world-famous show’s charismatic gnomes lead the way through the Heeler home.

The Heeler home tour

Our small group is taken on a tour of many of the rooms in Bluey and Bingo’s home. It even includes a replica pillow fort as seen in the episode Cubby.

Enter the Heeler’s backyard and play a game of keepy uppy or decorate a pavlova in the Bluey kitchen.

The experience encourages creative play, connection and even a tug at the heart strings – thanks Chilli.

Beloved Bluey characters drive the experience’s storyline, with a Chattermax dance party and chance meeting with Unicorse – one of the show’s cheekiest personalities.

Our Bluey and Bingo (Heidi and Matilda) explore each room, crawling through the cubby, climbing up onto the Heeler beds and helping our gnome navigate the home.

As we exit the experience, we’re met with a playground area based on the show. There’s a café that looks like the Chinese restaurant from the episode Fortune Cookie and a merchandise shop. Unfortunately the shops only takes Australian currency, not dollarbucks.

The squirts (kids) were quick to get photos with one of the grouchy grannies and other Bluey characters before snacking on an ice cream and Bluey-themed cupcakes.

Getting there in style

Make a splash on the way to Bluey’s World with two of Brisbane’s CityCat ferries transformed into Bluey and Bingo CityDogs.

You can hop on and off the CityDogs at the Northshore Hamilton ferry terminal to various locations along the Brisbane River.
